Steinway & Sons Workspace (Custom Textures on ceiling and columns)
Revival Cycles Workspace (Custom Texture on back wall)
James, my tutor suggested looking at the ceiling of the Sydney Opera House as a source of inspiration to develop the area for Steinway & Sons. The detailing and materiality of the Sydney Opera House influenced my design decisions.
The materials used include concrete, metal, glass and stone. Concrete dominates the structure which covers the walls, floor and ceiling. Metal is used for the trusses that hold up the glass display cases. They are structured in a manner to draw the attention to the glass. In each glass display case, it is used to exhibit the works of Revival Cycles and Steinway & Sons. Glass is also utilised to cover the front facade to overlook the surrounding landscape. Stone is used as a natural aspect which dominates the back wall contrasting to the artificial feel of concrete.
